About NMCEH
Mission
To assist communities to create solutions to homelessness from prevention through permanent housing by using action, advocacy, and awareness.
History
The New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness was founded in the year 2000 by a group of nonprofit agencies and the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority. The founders saw the need for a statewide coalition to coordinate the efforts of the member agencies to end homelessness.
The Coalition has three major areas:
To support homeless service agencies in New Mexico (Please see Technical Assistance tab)
To educate people in New Mexico about homelessness
To advocate for solution to homelessness at the State Legislature and other government bodies (Please see Public Education and Advocacy tab)
The Coalition has both individual and agency members. Members elect the Board of Directors annually and the Board oversees the operations of the Coalition. The Coalition has membership meetings every other month beginning in January, and Board meetings every other month beginning in February. The Coalition currently employs five full-time staff people to work with the membership in carrying out the mission.
Join us! We are a coalition of individuals, nonprofits, and government agencies working together to help the homeless. For more information call 505-982-9000 or write to us at P.O. Box 865 Santa Fe, NM 87504 or send an email to Hank-H@nmceh.org.
