Supportive Housing Program

The New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness is working with nonprofit developers to build supportive housing units throughout the state of New Mexico.  Supportive housing, where social services are provided with housing, is one of the most effective tools we have for helping people get out of homelessness.

The Coalition provides technical assistance as needed to help nonprofit developers plan, build and operate supportive housing.

Some of the supportive housing projects that the Coalition has helped develop are:

  • Chuska Apartments in Gallup, a joint project of the Supportive Housing Coalition of New Mexico and CARE 66 in Gallup.  Chuska provides ten transitional supportive housing apartments for homeless families in a mixed income apartment community.  Chuska won several awards for its green design.
  • Casa Libertad in Santa Fe, a project of Youth Shelters and Family Services.  Casa Libertad provides housing for ten homeless youth in a small apartment building with intensive services onsite to help the youth learn how to live independently.
  • Vista Gallinas in Las Vegas, a joint project of the Supportive Housing Coalition of New Mexico and Samaritan House in Las Vegas.  Vista Gallinas provides housing with services for 14 disabled individuals who would otherwise be homeless.
  • Village Sage in Santa Fe, a project of the Santa Fe Community Housing Trust.  Village Sage provides supportive housing for 15 homeless households including 6 individuals and 9 families as part of a 60 unit apartment community.
